Our Beginnings
Structural Group Australia is owned and operated by Matt, Steve and Nathanael Palmer. The Palmer boys are 5th generation builders so it is well and truly in their blood. Growing up in the Riverland SA where their parents owned farms and a building company they had a work ethic second to none. From an early age the boys would help their father, Geoff throughout the building projects he performed from helping pour concrete to cleaning up, digging footings and helping put timber frames together. This soon grew into a father and sons working relationship with mum, Glenys looking after the bookwork. As the boys finished school they each completed the trade of carpentry and joinery.
Unfortunately Geoff was struck down with Mesothelioma from working with asbestos early in his career and had to close the business and each of the boys went their several ways for approximately 1 year.
Around June 2000 Geoff, Matt and Steve decided to join forces and start a new business with Nathanael as a 3rd year apprentice and Structural Concepts Australia was born.
In December 2003 Geoff passed away after a 4 year battle with cancer. By this stage Dave Palmer had started his apprenticeship and Josh Palmer decided he wanted to do the same so there were 5 brothers working all together doing various projects throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas.
The Palmer boys decided that the business had to be of a reasonable size to provide for 5 families so they took on their first full time staff member and pushed to grow the business. As it stands today they employ over 100 staff across 9 companies and are represented in a number of states across Australia.
